China and the Czech Republic have adopted a pragmatic economic diplomacy since 2013. The total volume of bilateral trade was near U.S.$11 billion in 2014, up 16.2 percent from the previous year.

Chinese exports to the Czech Republic almost hit U.S.$8 billion dollars, up 16.9 percent from 2013. And exports from the Czech Republic to China was U.S.$2.99 billion, up 14.2 percent from the previous year.
China and the Czech Republic have cooperated in areas of manufacturing, nuclear power and infrastructure. Under China’s “One Belt One Road” initiative, the two countries will further develop their economic ties during President Xi Jinping’s state visit, especially in areas of renewable energy and infrastructure.
The Czech Republic is also hoping to become the center of services for Chinese financial institutions in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as an aviation hub between China and the region.
